Fig & Mushroom

This is some of the photos taken of the vegetation in Sg. Kekabu forest nearby a village called Kg. Esok in Negeri Sembilan.

The first photo is called fruits from a tree in the ficus genus or better know as fig. I am not sure which type of fig this is. How I wish a botanist were with me to let me know for sure. However, you may read about fig further here. Can we eat fig's fruits? It looks so tempting, isn't it :)

The answer is yes. You won't die if you eat fig fruits but it has lots of wasp in it because what you see as the fruits were actually containing small tiny flowers hidden in it. It looks nice and tempting from the outside but infested by wasps inside. See the black dot at the apex of the fruits, there is a tiny opening where the wasps or insects can go in. Therefore, it is advisable not to eat them :)

The second photo is a cluster of mushrooms. It gives the feeling of surreal and pure when you see them in the jungle. Mushrooms came in a variety of shapes and beautiful colours. There are myths about mushrooms in telling whether it is edible or poisonous. One of the most famous is that white mushroom is harmless whilst colourful mushroom is usually poisonous and deadly for animals and human being. That is totally untrue. Some deadly mushrooms are white and some edible ones are in beautiful colours.

Other myth is that if you see insects or ants around the mushroom, that it means it is edible. The answer is no. It might be harmless to them but not to human being. There are no specific rules to know if a mushroom is poisonous or edible. However, a mushroom hunter can easily tell the difference :)

Another lesson about mushroom is that some can be found glowing in the dark or at night. Not just mushroom, some caterpillars and worms do glow at night too. Lots of things in this world happened for a reason. At the moment, I have so little knowledge on this matter. However, those who are interested to know more about mushrooms can read it here. Mushroom in all shapes and colours. Some will make you smile and wonder :)

My favourite edible fungi family mushroom is called 'Cendawan Kukur'. I don't know what it is called in English. But this mushroom is so delicious if cooked traditionally "Masak Lemak Cili Padi". I can recognise this type anytime in the jungle. Hahaha... Ummm... yummy!

This is my Jade Necklace with Mystic Knot motif. I bought it in 2008. Jade has been known for many centuries for its beauty and spiritual power. It dates back like 7000 years ago. Read more here. Jade comes in a variety of green colours but sometimes it can be whitish, yellow, orange, grey, black, grey and even in delicate shade of violet. Mine here has the shades of pale green and orange.

This stone is very precious to the Chinese especially because in the ancient time, Jade is used by the high ranking royalties, used as jewelries, decorative to body armour and even to be burried together with the imperial families. Read here to know more of Jade significance to the Chinese and its history.

Now back to my necklace with the mystic knot motif. Fist of all, what is the symbol of mystic knot? Mystic Knot is a combination of six times the infinity symbol, this feng shui knot symbolizes a long and happy life full of good fortune. Mystic knot is sometimes referred to as the endless knot, because it looks like it swallows its own tail. It is the most often good luck Feng Shui symbols used.

In Buddhism, the mystic knot is one of the 8 magical auspicious objects. This symbol implies there is no beginning and no ending, reflecting Buddhist philosophy of endless rounds of birth and rebirth. As a feng shui cure, the mystic knot represents a harmonious flow of auspicious energy uninterrupted by any setbacks, accidents or misfortunes.

It is believed that the presence of the feng shui mystic knot will benefit every aspiration of your life, thus this feng shui symbol is often used in feng shui amulets for love, abundance, feng shui protection amulets, feng shui for career and other feng shui applications. This is called a Rutilated Quartz. My newest collection in 2008. It is a Clear Quartz with golden strands inside it. Rutilated Quartz, is a type of quartz with needlelike rutile (a titanium dioxide mineral), embedded in it. The rutile needles can be reddish, which is what rutile means in Latin, or they may be golden, silvery, or on very rare occasions, greenish. In Bahasa Malaysia, another famous name for it is 'Kristal Jarum Emas'. Kerana kelihatan seperti jarum-jarum emas di dalam kristal quartz yang jernih. Okay :)

Another name is 'VENUS HAIR STONE'. A Haa... this is more like it :)

I bought it for a good price of RM300+ in March 2008 at a crystal shop near my hotel. Don't be surprised that in some places, it can be even more expensive because this stone is very famous among the Chinese and Feng Shui enthusiasts. This is part of my new resolution of the New Year. Welcoming all the good chi of the universe. The Chinese would say that this is a very powerful crystal for people in business because the more Venus Hair in it, the better is your business luck. And throughout time, you will see that the hair will grow. So I took photos to proof it. We'll see about that in 3 years time, alright.

In the alternative medicinal practice, 'Kristal Jarum Emas' or 'Venus Hair Stone' is said to ward off Evil, Demon or Ginnie from entering one's body or soul. It is used as a protection against black magic and unwanted supernatural power. Hmm... I don't know about this one. God forbid.

Back to the use of Venus Hair Stone (I like this name), it is reputed to be an energizing stone that helps your mental capabilities. From some of the sources that I read, it is said that this stone enhances your love life. Hmm... may be because it gives more energy, so of course. I like this even better :)

Since it helps your mental capabilities, it helps you make better decisions, judgments and finally bring you on the right tract of success in life. All the positive and energising energy from the quartz and the golden hair that gives even more power of the sun, it is believed that wearing it will help the person find happiness and great success. So that is the logic of how the money and good business come in.

This is my most precious. 21-Eye Dzi Bead with Obsidian Crystals.

It is priceless to me. Immeasurable by any money that can be offered. I've worn it since 2004. A very powerful charm that completes my attire every day. I feel lost without it around my wrist. I have great connection with this one. It has such powerful energy because of its history with me.

First of all, what is Dzi Bead?

Dzi Bead (pronounce Zee) is a Tibetan Bead worn since time immemorial. It is unknown how the people of Tibet came out with the wisdom of this unique bead but surely it is priceless in Tibet. A dzi bead is hand down from one generation to another within the family and the value increases throughout time. Read further here.

There are many types of Dzi Beads starting from 1-Eye to 21-Eye Dzi Beads and many more with its respective symbols and meanings. One needs to understand one's needs and probably one's horoscope to know which Dzi Beads suit best.

Like myself, I bought a 21-Eye Dzi beads with a logic that I was born on the 21st day. There you go. As simple as that. And I asked the Dzi Bead to be tied with Obsidian Crystals because it is so outstandingly black and shining with beautiful multi faceted cut. There are certain ways of buying the right crystals. For myself, I always bought the first one that attract my attention. The 21-Eye Dzi Bead and the Obsidian did. They gave me a certain feelings of wanting, like I must have it. It feels good. You know it is the right one for you.

My 21-Dzi Bead means fulfillment of all wishes and perfecting of wisdom. It gives great energy to overcome fear and perseverance throughout life's challenges. It is most suited for those born in the year of Rooster, Dog and Boar. You can always go to any crystal shops and get their brochure on Dzi Beads and Type of Crystals to know their meaning and significance to your life.

OBSIDIAN - Is a volcanic lava that is cooled quickly, a type of glass. Therefore in ancient time, it is used to make spears and arrow heads. It is called a 'STONE OF TRUTH'. The wearer of the stone will be able to ward off negativity, bring out self confidence and trust of self. It is a protective stone that calms the internal and external energy. It helps the wearer from emotional and physical harm. Black gemstones symbolises self control and resilience.

In Feng Shui black stone is advised to be worn on your right hand. Right hand means you want to let go of the negative energy while wearing crystal on your left hand means you want to attract the energy.

21-Eye Dzi Bead with Obsidian simply means, giving great strength and wisdom to counter life failures and life challenges, making the right decision in choosing the right path with full confidence of one's ability to conquer all.

My Dzi Bead Bracelet is an awesome charm for me. It has been exposed to the earth elements of fresh and salt water and the power of the sun. That is all the natural energy that is important for crystal cleansing. I dropped it into Putrajaya Lake. No one found it for a week until my boyfriend (back then) dived in and got it for me. The energy has been increased ever since. Then I dropped it a second time into a deep blue sea. Never thought of seeing it again. A diver went down and got it for me. It's a miracle that I got it back. I believed that it is the energy and the connection that bonded me with all my crystal collection :)

I have another two postings for crystal enthusiasts. Till then... take care... Mwah! Mwah!

Another collection of stones in 2003. This is called Citrine. Stone for the people born in the year of an Ox.

The price is RM300+ tied with a silver band. Again the value of the stone is based on its clarity, cut, colour and carat. Apply all those knowledge I wrote about Diamonds. It can be used to make sense of semi precious stones too. But not necessarily. There are no particular written rules for semi precious stones or crystals.

Citrine in French means lemon and the word itself is from a lantin word 'citrus' which means lemon and 'citro' a fruit that is very similar like lemon. So there you go the origin of how it gets its name Citrine, a yelow colored stone.

Yellow in a Citrine Crystal that is sold in the market usually is not its natural yellow. Some is the amethyst heated up to yellow or its natural pale yellow is heated up for enhancement. Very rare that you will find Citrine that is really yellow and very natural. Therefore those natural ones are very expensive.

My Citrine Ring costs me so much because of its clarity and colour. When you look at it, it is flawless and the yellow colour is very natural. That is why I don't mind paying the price to have it. I bought it for a sentimental reason of being an OX. Yellow stone is good for an Ox born people to bring good luck. Not just Oxes, everyone who is wearing it will get the positive energy that attracts optimism in this life. It is also called a 'STONE OF SUCCESS'.

In terms of colour, YELLOW means joy and happiness. It is associated with intelligence and wisdom. Hence promotes the right ingredients for success in life.

In Fung Shui yellow is a very lucky colour because like gold, it is associated with wealth and abundance. Whomever wants to attract more money into their life is advised to wear Citrine or any other yellow stones, best of all, yellow diamonds (it is very rear and priceless).

More on the benefit of wearing Citrine is that it is the only one or two stones in this world that does not contain or keep negative energy. Therefore, it is not necessary to cleanse the stone each time. Those who wear crystal jeweleries should know that at least every three months, the crystals need to be cleansed. When we wear a crystal, all of our energies, auras or vibrations will be absorbed and kept inside it. It's like a micro chip that has all your information in it. That is why you should never wear someone else's jewelery or crystals. It is somebody else's energy. It might be a negative one which is not good for your aura.

There are a few methods of cleansing. I don't think I want to discuss it here. You can do your own research. The easiest way is to go back to the shop you bought it earlier, and to ask the shop owner to cleanse it for you in the crystal bowl.

Okay, now to summarise Citrine is MONEY, WEALTH and POSITIVE THINKING.

This is a Rose Quartz. My second quality semi precious stones and the loveliest of all. I bought it for RM200+. You might wonder why so high a price for such a small pendant? Well, this one is a high quality crystal that has no cracks, clear colour throughout (no inclusion) and well cut (love shape). The size is only 1.5cm tied with a silver band. If it is platinum or white gold, it can be even more expensive, but the price is solely based on the stone per se in this case :)

This Rose Quartz was bought in year 2003. Rose Quartz is pink in colour. Sometimes it can be very pale to almost whitish. It is a 'STONE OF UNIVERSAL LOVE'.

The colour itself, PINK is the colour of Universal Love. Pink portrays gentleness. It is associated with appreciation, admiration, joy and happiness. Giving someone special a Pink Rose means you are gently telling that person that you admire him/her, appreciate him/her or wanting to thank him/her in the gentlest of manner. Whereas Pink Carnation means gratitude or "I will never forget you".

In Feng Shui belief, Rose Quartz is good to attract love and romance, it is used to enhance relationship with others as well as to give sense of love to the wearer. The energy and aura of Rose Quartz will help to give all the positive vibrations that will help the wearer deals with matters of the heart. How romantic, isn't it.

Needless to say more. This stone is very much straight forward. It is all about LOVE, LOVE, and LOVE. God, I love the word itself. That is why I bought it in the fist place :)

In my previous posting, I wrote about my first real crystal, semi precious stone, i.e. Water Agate. It is an Agate type which has so many varieties and names. You might not find any Agate that is the same. Each stones are individual and unique. That is why when you see my Water Agate bracelet, all the greens are not the same.

Agate is a microcrystalline variety of quartz, chiefly chalcedony (definition is here), characterised by its fineness of grain and brightness of color. Read further here. I think most of you won't get excited to read its scientific meaning, so let us go straight to its metaphysical attributes.

First of all, what is the meaning of 'metaphysical'. It means something that is not physical, it is theoretical, abstract, incorporeal or supernatural. Okay, got it?

Taking example of my Water Agate Bracelet, its Feng Shui belief is that it can enhance my health, gives soothing and calming effect because of its colour, green and it gives better blood circulation when it touches my pulse at the wrist. All things around us has it's on effect on our well being, like colours too. Green is the colour of nature, life and fertility. It symbolises balance in life. Therefore, wearing Green Agates is good to bring up the best qualities of that person in terms of being a just person, love of nature and love of humanity. The good vibration and aura of the wearer will also be transfered to others. Now, don't you think you too should have one too :)

To summarise Agates metaphysically is that it is a 'Stone of Balance', a 'Power Stone' that has endless healing energy for those who belief in it. Read more here. Well, do not underestimate the power of our minds. You think it and it will happen :) We just need to find reason or medium to channel our thoughts. Why not something that is practical and beautiful like Crystals.

Crazy Over Stones

This is my first crystal. It's called Water Agate. I bought it for RM80.00 after discount from a shop called Elite Gifts Shop. The shop is no longer there in One Utama (Old Wing).

I am a fan of semi precious stones, crystals and gems. I love anything that is natural and stones are really natural to me. A mineral formation of million or even billion of years (who knows). It fascinates me. I believe that these stones have special powers as it is derived from the earth. It has energies and vibrations that can benefit us.

I have been studying stones for quite sometimes now. Apart from diamonds, which is the most expensive of them all, I studied semi precious stones. Such as Agate, Tiger Eye, Rose Quartz, Jade, Onyx and many more.

Seriously I started buying semi precious stones or crystals in year 2003. I bought the Water Agate Bracelet. At first I found it very beautiful. I love quality jeweleries of all kinds. ONLY QUALITY ONES. Knowing my taste of jewelery, it is advised not to buy one for me, unless that person knows me well enough. Hahaha... just kidding.

This one caught my eyes. It was so green and shining with its multi faceted cut. I don't really buy it for any specific reason, not knowing its actual power. However, being a curious and bubbly person, I asked the owner of the shop to explain its significance in length.

Starting from there on, I became even more fascinated. Not enough from just reading about them, I want to make them stones, my own :) Hmmm... I feel so greedy!

So this is a posting about my crystal collections. Starting from Water Agate. I will share with everyone who has the urge to read further, the description of each stones, their significant values and their hidden alternative healing properties.

I think I'll continue some other time. Till then, take care... Mwah! Mwah! :)

Last night my tears dropped non-stop for hours watching Oprah and a Hallmark Movie, "Absolution". My Goodness, so touching… HUHUHU…

Oprah shows never fail to win ladies audience globally. Last night was a repeat show of last year about women who had been raped by their own husband. Two women that had been interviewed, both were successful beautiful above average independent career women who loved their spouse with all their hearts. They are definitely not a weakling but yet, they got abused by their animal-psycho-good-for-nothing husbands. There you go. I hate men who abuse women. They all can die and be in hell. AMIN…

I understand their shattered feelings of bewilderment. A disappointment of believing that a person that you love will never hurt you. Haha… bulshit! They didn’t fight because they were in a state of shock. Their minds were not focused on their battered body. They did not feel the physical pain but they do feel a greater pain. A pain greater than being stabbed by a knife. No further explanation is needed, isn’t it.

Then I watched this movie which I usually will not bother to watch. Again a story of a rape victim. But this one was nice because it has lessons for everyone. About a mother-daughter love, about relationship, about God, about miracle and best of all, about HOPE. Listen carefully, ya. After all the misery and bad experience in this life. The only thing that matters is not to lose HOPE.

It made me remember what my good friend said to me earlier, “If you lose a man, there will be thousands of them in this world. But if you lose your parents, they are only one in this world. You better keep your parents!” Gosh… I feel so much better.
